Charles went on a canal boat trip in June along with his friend Graham and Support Worker Murdo. They travelled between Upton on the River Severn and Evesham, on the section of the River Avon in the south of England, and covered over 30 miles of waterway and negotiated 16 locks along the way. The boat was adapted for wheelchair use and Charles was able to make his way about the board freely and also to steer the barge.
“I had never been on a barge before and it was my idea to go on this trip. I found it to be enjoyable and we had many good laughs during our voyage. Going through the locks was great fun and I really enjoyed steering the boat.” Charles
Charles really felt the benefit of being away for a break and is next planning his life’s dream; to cross Canada by train.
“I want to thank Carr Gomm for helping me with this trip with a contribution from the Dreams Can Come True fund. The whole experience gave me a real buzz so your help is really appreciated.”
Thanks for sharing your story and photos, Charles, and good luck with your next trip.
