How Carr Gomm supports people with our Cassiltoun Service.
“Cassiltoun service is a service that supports people to live in their own homes, stay safe and well and prevent admission to hospital.
The service supports people with different needs. We can support people with personal care, medication, meal preparation and any other day-to-day activities. We have a service user that we support with all their needs this includes all their personal care, medication and supporting them with meals and drinks. This service has an office in one of the blocks, so we are on-site.
We also try to encourage service users to try other activities in the community. Some of the service users go to the Cassiltoun Housing, where they have different classes like arts and crafts and a lunch club. In the summer, we have a BBQ for the service users, and at Christmas, we have lunch in a local hotel or restaurant.
We also have a service in the Gorbals and Priesthill that provides a similar service for people in these areas.
We also have integrated services that provide support in the community. These services deal with people for a shorter period of time. We support people who might have been in hospital with mental health issues and need support to get back into the community. We will assist people to maybe get their finances in order, maybe help them to join a group or assist them with appointments.
Carr Gomm also holds different events throughout the year, such as the forum, AGM and attending any involvement group meet-ups, and encourages the service users to attend and get involved.
Working for Carr Gomm is a rewarding job as you can see the difference you can make to someone’s life.
The company offers full training so you don’t have to have experience in this line of work. Being part of a team and working together, you can see the difference you can make in someone’s life.”
