Support Stories: Vinny’s creative designs to be enjoyed by community

Black and red painted train made out of wooden offcuts

Our Highland Service has been supporting Vinny to create amazing designs using offcuts of wood.

Vinny is living with dementia and Parkinson’s disease. The practical act of sanding and painting these offcuts of wood helps to focus Vinny’s mind and allows his imagination to flourish.

His designs have been inspired by his local neighbourhood as well as the natural environment.

Vinny’s wife keeps objects around to remind him of the season’s which led him to create an Easter bunny design

The houses he designed will soon be sitting proudly in the local GP’s service’s wellbeing garden, bringing joy to people who spend time there.

Vinny’s new hobby has given him joy, focus, and allowed him to connect with his imagination. We can’t wait to see what he creates next.

Carr Gomm’s support encourages people to pursue their interests and build on their strengths. We don’t let a person’s diagnoses define who they are.
