Job Description

Get Ready to Thrive in 2025!

Carr Gomm has an exciting opportunity for you to join our established teams based in the west of Edinburgh as a Relief Support Practitioner.

We have decades of experience in these teams, supporting individuals who are living with learning and physical disabilities. Your ability to form good relationships is essential to ensuring that they are living a meaningful and fulfilled life.

As part of the team, you will make a real difference to the people we support, providing support in a person-centred way to help them with day to day living such as personal care, medication support and cleaning. The role also involves a lot of social support such as outings in the local community, attending groups and helping those we support achieve their dreams.

Our Relief Support Practitioner role allows you to have the flexibility to pick and choose shifts around other commitments you may have in your life.  All we ask is that you are able to complete your training requirements and work with us on a regular basis.  The services are staffed 24 hours a day, so we have a variety of day shifts, sleepover shifts, weekend working and waking night shifts available.

Whilst experience is always welcome, full training is provided. The right values and motivation are essential; honesty, respect, empathy and compassion are key skills that are required in people who join our team.  We would also welcome applications from those who have experience in Signalong or BSL though this isn’t an essential requirement of the role.

Due to the nature of the support, we can only accept applications from female candidates.*

Why join Carr Gomm?

  • A variety of shifts usually available 12 months of the year
  • Holiday pay accrual
  • Access to Blue Light Card and Concerts for Carers
  • Comprehensive induction training
  • Access to the Carr Gomm App: which includes free physiotherapy, health coaching and counselling.

Apply now to start your rewarding journey with Carr Gomm where your passion for supporting others will have a lasting impact.

We welcome applications from any candidates already eligible to work in the UK or those that can apply for a visa granting permission to work in the UK (e.g. dependent visas, ancestry etc.) that do not require sponsorship from Carr Gomm. You will be asked to share proof of this prior to receiving any offer of employment. It is currently our policy not to offer sponsorship for prospective candidates.

*Please note that Schedule 9 Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010 applies to this vacancy.
