What do you do?
I deliver nightshift care at home. It’s a responsible role that supports vulnerable people, often in their own homes. I keep people safe and comfortable through the night, and also help organise morning essentials such as:
- Breakfast
- Washing
- Personal care
- Ironing
- Cleaning
What surprised you about working here?
At first, I was unsure about how I was going to cope with supporting people at night and the working hours required of me. However, this has been the best career move I have ever made. The shift patterns complement my personal life, and it allows me to provide one-to-one support without the busyness of everyday life.
What do you like most about your job?
After seven years, it has to be the job satisfaction. I know that at the end of each shift, I have supported a person to live independently and remain in their own home.
What advice do you have for someone considering a career as nightshift support practitioner?
My advice would be, go for it! The working hours are flexible, the job is rewarding, and everyone is so friendly. Carr Gomm will also be there to support you every step of the way.
