7% pay rise for all Carr Gomm staff

Carr Gomm is supporting its staff with a pay rise of at least 7% for all workers.

Our staff are the heart of Carr Gomm, and we understand the challenging and rewarding job they do to support people across Scotland. To show how valuable our staff are, we are proud to offer all staff a pay rise from 1st of April, 2024.

Lucy, Carr Gomm Chief Executive, has been vocal in calls to the Scottish Government to increase the social care wage to more than £12 an hour to appropriately compensate workers for the incredible support they provide to people across Scotland. Read Lucy’s letter to the First Minister on our website

We are committed to offering fair wages that align with our values. Therefore, we are happy to announce that all Carr Gomm Support Practitioners will see an almost 11% salary increase from the 2023/24 rate and a more than 2% pay rise compared to the Scottish Government’s new adult social care wage.

All new Carr Gomm Support Practitioners will now receive a minimum of £12.30 per hour.  At Carr Gomm, we also reward staff loyalty and qualifications, and therefore, experienced Support Practitioners will receive a rate of over £13 per hour (more than 8% higher than the Scottish Government’s adult social care wage).

In addition to the pay increase, Carr Gomm will continue to offer additional benefits to our Support Practitioner, including time and a half for all overtime hours and enhanced waking hours payments.

But that is not all. At Carr Gomm, we know that we could not do the work we do without our office-based staff who are the backbone of the organisation. That is why, from the 1st of April, all office-based workers will also see a pay rise of 7%.

Pay rise

On top of a pay rise for all staff, we will continue to offer incredible staff benefits to all workers. This includes:

  • 35 days holiday per year (increase with length of service) and a sell-back annual leave scheme
  • Recommend a Friend Scheme (T&Cs apply)
  • enhanced maternity, paternity, adoption and sick leave
  • staff recognition scheme
  • Blue Light Card eligibility
  • Free online counselling from our in-house Counselling Service
  • Free personal training and physiotherapy accessed through our Carr Gomm App
  • Plus more!

In a letter to all staff, Lucy Wren, Carr Gomm Chief Executive, stated:

“We will always strive to be better, as this is in our DNA, but we can only be at our best with your commitment to our organisation. We achieve together, and I want to sincerely recognise your hard work and attention to detail in getting it right for the people, families, and communities that we support.”
