Maree Todd MSP (Minister for Social Care, Mental Wellbeing and Sport) has responded to Carr Gomm’s letter which calls for the Scottish Government to close the unjust pay gap between workers employed by commissioned providers and equivalent workers employed by the public sector.
In her response to our letter addressed to the First Minister, Ms Todd remarks on the pressures on our sector and the value that our social care workforce has in Scotland:
Scottish Ministers are hugely grateful for the hard work and dedication of all those working in the social care sector and we recognise the extraordinary pressure currently facing the sector, and how seriously this impacts workers. Please be assured that the Scottish Government is committed to improving fair work practices across the social care sector and we will continue to work in partnership with our key stakeholders to improve the lives and experiences of the social care workforce.
Carr Gomm thanks Maree Todd for her response. We will continue to encourage and support the Scottish Government as they aim to make their commitment to Fair Work a reality for the social care workforce.
