Staff Recognition: Lisa’s 20 years with Carr Gomm

Our staff are the driving force behind Carr Gomm, and their commitment to providing the best care possible enables us to support over 3,000 people every day. We are incredibly fortunate to have such dedicated and loyal staff who have stayed with us throughout the years.

One of those incredible staff members is Lisa. She joined Carr Gomm as a support practitioner in 2003 as part of the Forth Valley service and is still supporting people to live their best lives to this day.

“I have loved working with Carr Gomm over the last 20 years. I feel I have grown up in this company – well, I really have! I was a very young 18-year-old girl just out of school, now a 38-year-old wife and mother of 2. Carr Gomm has been my constant when my personal life has changed so dramatically.

I have worked in most services in Forth Valley and enjoyed meeting all the people we support. There have definitely been highs and lows, but I’ve been lucky to have great teams and Managers to support me and our teams throughout them all.

I remember sitting at my induction on the first day, listening to Chris and Lucy describing Carr Gomm’s Philosophies and Values and how they should be adopted for every person we support, and I remember thinking, I can do this!

There has obviously been a lot of change in my role and in Carr Gomm in general. This is what I feel makes my job still interesting, and I’ve enjoyed embracing all these changes and pushing myself to be the best Support Practitioner I can be.

I honestly haven’t got one memory or stand-out moment. I have so many amazing memories of my 20 years –  the most stand out are supporting people on holidays they never thought they’d get to go to – Dublin, London, even a Mediterranean Cruise. But mostly, it’s little things I have seen or heard that have always made my job feel worthwhile. ”

From everyone at Carr Gomm and the people supported in Forth Valley, we want to thank Lisa for her incredible achievement. Her positive impact on people’s lives cannot be measured. Here are to many more years!
